A narrative music video
This is a narrative music video as it fits into the narrative criteria. A narrative normally tells a story with a chain of events taking place with a beginning, middle and an end.
In Taylor Swifts video "you belong with me" there are series of different settings which narrates her lyrics several times; for example when she says she’s in her room, she is in her bedroom or when she says walk in the streets with you and your worn out jeans, which basically narrates the boy in the video coming towards her. this suggest that the Lyrics amplyfy the song which is a convention a music video.
futhermore the begining, middle and the end is cleary shown in the video. At the begining of the story it portrays Taylors and her crush's relationship and gives us a sense she wants to be with him. at the middle of the song Taylors facial expressiob and the Lyrics suggest that she feels he belongs with her and she wants to be with him and finally at the end that is exactly what happens, Taylor becomes this beautiful girl for the dance and steals the heart of her crush.
The genre of this music video is pop. i say this because a Pop music video usually consists of an artist who is lip syncing with the lyrics and would have a narrative reflecting the meaning of the song
The primary target audience would be young teenagers around the age 14-18 and also a secondary target audience of 19-25+ years as pop music usually appeals to younger audience. Furthermore its a song about a school girl crush which may not relate to young adults or above as they have past that stage and may feel it’s not a type of song they can relate to.
The editing of this video is quiet fast tagging along with the tempo
